Hi friends,
It's me again, except it's been another year of being MIA and now I'm on the tail end of my 23rd lap around the sun.....broaching "mid-twenties" territory and that sounds serious eek!!
I always have such a good run posting this blog for a few weeks when I am on uni holidays, and once you stop hearing from me you can guarantee I'm back into the study grind and have lost time for all of my side hobbies (get it :)). BUT, I have news for you guys. You're never going to believe it, but after 5 long years I've gone and done it - I'm walking away with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering! Super exciting times, thankyou thankyou. The caveat to this is that I now have much more time on my hands, hence you're receiving a precious blog post from me after basically a year hiatus. Let me tell you, that last year of my degree was not for the faint hearted - count yourselves lucky you didn't have me keyboard warrior-ing about it here, it was not pretty.
So, for the one millionth (and hopefully last) time, here's a bit of a reintroduction of me to get you up to speed with what I've been up to for the last year...
For the real newbies, I'll start basic - Hi! I'm Savannah, but more commonly to my friends and family Sav, and I'm a 23 year old girl that has decided to create a platform to yap about all things 20-something-year-old. Whether you're in your 20's or you've made it safely out the other side, you'll know that they can be busy, confusing, fun, unknown, the best time of your life, the worst time of your life, freeing, scary - these are just a few things that personally come to mind. If you haven't reached your 20's yet - awww so cute and young and small. Don't worry, I have lots to say about lots of different things and it gives you a fun insight into what you have to look forward to!
The next thing I want to talk about is travel! You guys, it has been such a fun year for travel. The girl at the start of 2024 is soooooo uncultured compared to the girl heading into 2025.
First, the girls trip actually made it out of the group chat, and I was lucky enough to head to Bali for a week with 2 of my girl friends. We had the most fun week - sipping cocktails by the pool, relaxing and reading lots of books, running a muck with all the kids at the water park, sooo many motorbike rides, beautiful markets, even more beautiful beach clubs, stunning food, quad biking, the list is endless and we just had the best time ever. I'll drop a few photos down below to show you how much fun it was. I am also thinking of making a blog post specifically about Bali - I have been there a few times now and have a few recommendations that I'd like to share if that's something people would be interested in.
The next trip was a little closer to home, but just as much fun. My beautiful, thoughtful partner organised a surprise trip to Sydney with all of our friends on the AFL Grand Final weekend. I had no idea where we were going until we arrived at the airport, and I didn't have to worry about organising/paying for anything. The flights and accommodation had already been organised and paid for, as well as a drinks package at a pub for the grand final. What an angel, I am very grateful for him. We ended up staying in an Air BnB in Surrey Hills with a big group of our friends - in particular one of the couples have moved up to live in Sydney and they stayed with us for the weekend. It was so lovely to spend time with them. We roamed around Sydney - checking out the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sealife Aquarium and Bondi Beach...proper tourists. Again, I'll leave some photos below for you to see.
Also, I nearly forgot the most important part! I am an avid Brisbane Lions supporter and was lucky enough to see them play in and win the grand final in the pub in Sydney! Cmon you Brissy Boys!! Can't say I was the most popular girl roaming around Sydney in a Brisbane Lions jumper when it was the Sydney Swans who we beat....oops, but hey I'll never see any of these people's faces again ;)
The final part of my travel series for 2024 is, in my opinion, the most significant and a little bit impressive. I embarked on a solo mission backpacking around Europe for 5 weeks at the end of my bachelor's degree. This really was the trip of a lifetime, and I felt so privileged to see the parts of the world that I saw. It was really my dreams coming true. I don't want to harp on about it too much here, I will write a separate blog post for this trip because I could harp on about it forever and ever. What I can say is it was life changing and doing it solo was the most amazing experience I could have hoped for.

Ok so, now you guys know how much of a world traveller I am you must be super impressed, but what else have I been up to in 2024. I've had to whip out the camera roll to remind myself what 2024 was all about, and what I came up with was really fun and cute and made me really happy.
2024 was all about friends and family. It was the year that I started dating the cutest boy. The year that I had the most wonderful birthday filled with love and thoughtful surprises from friends. I made so many new friends that I still cherish going into 2025. I got to spend time with my sister over cute home dinner dates and watching endless true crime documentaries. I left old friends at my pub job and made new friends at a cafe job and now in 2025 I will embark on my first job as a graduate engineer.
2024 was special and the end of it marks the closing of a chapter for me, in particular the part of my life that has become so familiar - being a student. 2025 marks the first year of my life where I get to venture out into my field of study not only to learn so many new things, but also to make big girl full time wage which is super exciting.
That's all from me for now, loved chatting and talk soon!
