A Poetic Wednesday Morning

No life changing advice or hard hitting topics today...just some thoughts I wrote down while journaling about being in your 20's that someone else may be able to relate to or find comfort in knowing there are others that are experiencing the same challenges as them. Being in your 20's is hard and confusing and I'm having the time of my life but always worrying about what I'm doing with my life. I try not to get caught in the rat race but I find myself asking why I don't love my degree like others do, why aren't I travelling the world, is the reason I can't afford to buy a house like my friends because I'm bad at saving or don't work hard enough? So I work so hard that I don't have any time for friends. I am strong and independent, but the company of a lover wouldn't be turned away...but how is he going to fit into my solo travel dreams? Is he even a he, or is a she what I'm looking for. Being in your 20's is love, hate, heartbreak...

The Dreaded Day Off Pt. 1

Picture this: It's 11am on a Sunday morning, you've got the whole day off work, no plans, no commitments, no uni work due, a whole day to do whatever you want; a dream come true right? But with endless possibilities comes endless choices, and if you're anything like me, this is where the problem starts. No matter how far in advance I know that I'm going to have a day off where I can do any activity, that day will come and I still won't be able to decide what to do... And then 1pm will come, and I'll just have lunch before I decide what I'm going to do. And I'll just watch some Tik Toks while I eat lunch. And I accidentally looked at my phone for 3 hours and now it's 4pm and I still don't know what to do. I'll just go have a shower and then figure out what to do for the rest of the day. And now I've accidentally laid on my bed in a towel for an hour and it's 5pm. I'll just wait for dinner to be ready and then I'll figure out s...

The Science of Habits Pt. 2

Here's a bit of an idea of the routines and habits I've formed/ am trying to form to help me reach my goals. Now, I know this isn't always possible for everyone. As a hospo worker myself, I know that if you're working a bar close until 2am you're probably not going to want to wake up at 7am the next day, but overall consistency is key. You don't need to be perfect, you just need to keep trying. Waking up at the same time each morning regulates your circadian rhythm (your body's sleep cycle) and allows you to actually get better quality sleep at night.
